What Accounting and Bookkeeping Cover
Bookkeeping (monthly)
Bookkeeping is the day-to-day recording of transactions so the books match reality every month.
- Recording sales, purchases, expenses and receipts
- Bank, cash and payment gateway reconciliation
- Customer and vendor ledgers, with outstanding balances
- Tagging GST and TDS correctly on each entry so returns match the books
- Month-end closing so figures are ready for filings
Accounting and reporting
Accounting turns those records into information you can act on and that auditors, banks and investors accept.
- Profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements
- Monthly management reports on revenue, margins and receivables
- Cash flow forecasts and budgets with variance analysis
- Year-end adjustments: depreciation, provisions, prepaid and accrued expenses
- Audit preparation: schedules, ledgers and reconciliations the auditor asks for
Accounting clean-up (backlog)
For businesses whose books have fallen months or years behind, often discovered when a GST notice, loan application or investor due diligence arrives.
- Reconstructing entries from bank statements, invoices and GST returns
- Matching books with GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and Form 26AS
- Identifying missed input tax credit and unrecorded liabilities
- Bringing the books to a closed, reconciled position before regular bookkeeping starts

How Outsourced Bookkeeping Works
Step 1: Review your current books
We look at your accounting software, bank accounts, GST and TDS registrations, and how far behind the books are, then confirm whether you need a clean-up first or can start monthly bookkeeping directly.
Step 2: Fixed quote and document list
You receive the monthly fee and a list of what to share each month: bank statements, sales and purchase invoices, expense bills and payroll data.
Step 3: Monthly recording and reconciliation
Transactions are recorded and reconciled with the bank every month, with GST and TDS tagged so returns can be filed from the same data.
Step 4: Month-end close
Books are closed each month so GST returns, TDS returns, advance tax and year-end filings all start from reconciled figures.
Outsourced Bookkeeping vs an In-House Accountant
| Factor | Outsourced bookkeeping | In-house accountant |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Fixed monthly fee based on transaction volume | Monthly salary plus PF, ESI, software and training |
| Continuity | Work continues when a person is on leave or leaves | Books can stall if the accountant leaves |
| Compliance knowledge | Team handles GST, TDS and ROC filings from the same books | Depends on the individual's experience |
| Best for | Startups, SMEs and professionals with up to a few hundred transactions a month | Businesses needing someone on site daily, such as for inventory or billing counters |
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do accounting services cost in Hyderabad?
It depends on transaction volume and what is included. Tax Garden's bookkeeping costs ₹6,000 a month for up to 200 transactions, monthly financial reports cost ₹12,000 to ₹33,000 a month, and clean-up of backlog accounts costs ₹21,000 to ₹52,000 per annum. When comparing quotes, check whether bank reconciliation, GST tagging and month-end closing are included.
What is the difference between bookkeeping and accounting?
Bookkeeping is recording each transaction and reconciling bank and ledgers so the books are accurate. Accounting uses those books to prepare financial statements, reports, forecasts and year-end adjustments, and to support audits and tax filings.
Does a small business in Hyderabad need to maintain books of account?
Companies and LLPs must always maintain books. Individuals and HUFs in business must maintain books under Section 44AA if income exceeded ₹2.5 lakh or turnover exceeded ₹25 lakh in any of the three preceding years, unless they use presumptive taxation. Specified professionals must do so once gross receipts cross ₹1.5 lakh. Every GST-registered business must keep the accounts required under Section 35 of the CGST Act.
How long should I keep accounting records?
Companies and LLPs must keep books for 8 years. GST records must be kept for 72 months from the due date of the annual return for that year. Under income tax, keep books and supporting documents for at least 6 years, and longer if an assessment or appeal is pending.
Can bookkeeping be done remotely, or do I need an accountant at my office?
Most bookkeeping can be done remotely: you share bank statements, invoices and bills each month, and the books are maintained in accounting software. An on-site accountant makes sense only if you need daily work at your premises, such as billing, stock counts or cash handling. Tax Garden's bookkeeping plan is remote, and you can meet the team at our Kondapur office.
What is an audit trail in accounting software, and does my company need it?
Since 1 April 2023, every company that keeps books in accounting software must use software that records an audit trail (edit log) of each change, with the date, and the trail cannot be disabled. Auditors report on compliance, so companies should check their software settings.
My books are months behind. Can they still be fixed?
Yes. A clean-up rebuilds the books from bank statements, invoices and filed GST returns, reconciles them with GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and Form 26AS, and flags gaps such as missed input tax credit or unrecorded liabilities. It is best done before the next income tax return, GST annual return or audit.
What is the best accounting outsourcing company in Hyderabad?
The best fit depends on your size and industry. Compare providers on what the monthly fee includes, whether books are reconciled with your GST and TDS returns, how quickly they close each month, who reviews the accounts, and whether you keep ownership of your data and software login. Ask for a written scope and fee before sharing data.
